THE PARADE

The Annual City Of Lights Holiday Parade welcomes the holiday season with the arrival of Mr and Mrs Claus and the traditional lighting of JFK Plaza and the Wannalancit smoke stack. On Saturday, November 25 at 4:30 p.m., the parade will once again commence from Jackson Street and end at City Hall, where Santa Claus will make his first appearance of the season, and will throw the switch to light City Hall!

FAMILY FUN

City of Lights is a family event with something for everyone. Main attractions include the Holiday Parade, Photos with Santa, a holiday movie screening at the Donahue Family Academic Arts Center and the annual hot chocolate and window decorating contests (vote for your favorite!).

2023 City of Lights Grand Marshals:

Sam Hor and Larry Wilson, co-founders of the Lowell Youth Leadership Program, an organization that embodies the spirit of community and youth leadership.

The Lowell Youth Leadership Program (LYLP) is the revival of the award-winning National Youth Sports Program (NYSP) which was discontinued in 2007.  NYSP was a program that provided sports and enrichment activities for under-served Lowell youth.  Several former NYSP attendees have recreated that program in the form LYLP.  LYLP is a free 4 weeksummer camp that offers courses including Robotics, STEM, Dance, Art, Community Engagement, as well as, a variety of sports activities.  Breakfast and lunch is included as is transportation to and from the camp.  LYLP’s objective is to try and lessen the effect of the participants environment as an impediment to their success. By emphasizing leadership skills and civic engagement LYLP hopes to create an environment that fosters a desire to give back to the community and creates a legacy of leadership.
