Grand Marshals
2025 Marshals
In celebration of Lowell’s culture and history as we prepare for the Bicentennial in 2026, the City of Lights grand marshals will honor local elders from across the City.
Alice Dorthy Webster
100 years old
Born in Lowell and affectionately known as “Babe,” Alice grew up in Pawtucketville as one of six siblings. A gifted student, she attended St. Michael’s School and earned a full scholarship to the Rosary Academy in Watertown, Massachusetts. As a child, she played trumpet in St. Rita’s Band, the Cadets, showcasing her early love for music and community.
Alice worked at the Courier Citizen, where she met her beloved husband, Herbert L. Webster. Married for over fifty years, they shared a beautiful life together, residing in the Highlands before returning to her childhood home in Dracut. A devoted member of Mt. Pleasant Golf Club, Alice even had the honor of playing around with LPGA legend Pat Bradley.
Known fondly as “Dot” or “Ma,” she touched countless lives through her dedication to the youth at St. Rita’s Church and other parishes throughout Florida and New Hampshire. Whether serving as a lector, Eucharistic minister, or visiting the sick, Alice’s faith, kindness, and compassion have inspired all who know her.
